Our first professional commission was to design, build, and perform a circus for the RISD Museum. To allow the structure to be partially open to the public, we designed and built it around the concept of air beams. Instead of relying on the entire space to be pressurized, inflated ribs hold up the fabric which spans between each beam. This allows for mobility as well as eliminates the need for posts, as seen in typical circus tent construction.
